Day 4 Wash and scrub up

Thursday brought blue skies and sunshine.  Everyone had slept well again and were ready for another large breakfast to set them up for the day's activities.  Bacon sandwiches, cereal, toast and fruit juice were soon consumed and the morning briefings by the instructors completed.  Time to get ready again.

Kitting up for caving.

Some of us need help getting dressed!

The canoes needed to be carried to the canal before the paddling could begin.
Once we were home from the activities we had to make sure that all of our equipment was scrubbed and clean ready for the next group coming in.
Caving suits being dunked in water before the scrubbing begins.

Walking boots being scrubbed - someone's not that keen!

After a hard day's work, macaroni cheese, jelly and ice cream was just what we needed and again plates were scraped clean.  We then had to set about packing, identifying lost property and cleaning the farmhouse this evening ready for a quick getaway the next day.  Everyone chipped in, helped out, supported, scrubbed, hoovered and made an easy job of it.  Before we knew it we were packed, tidy and ready for an early night and the drive home the next day.

Before bed we all chatted about our achievements over the week, we thought about the brave things we'd seen, the acts of kindness and support, and those hilarious moments such as Ben hanging from the canoe by hands and feet, but with his backside in the water......we're still not sure how he managed that one but it was an impressive feat of acrobatics.  We discussed the things we managed to do, even though at the beginning of the week we thought we couldn't or wouldn't, and most of that revolved around the caving.  And we thought about the friendships made and friendships strengthened.
